Peter comes to the Syracuse Pulse directly from National Independent Soccer Association’s Chattanooga FC, for which he served as head coach from 2019 to 2021, winning the NISA Independent Cup in both 2020 and 2021. He previously served on coaching staffs for MLS teams New England Revolution and Philadelphia Union, and for 16 years with the University of Mobile in Alabama. As a coach in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), he was three times named NAIA Coach of the Year and won national championships with Belhaven and Mobile — and continues to stand as the only coach in the history of the NAIA to have won national championships at two different schools. As a player in college, the native of Sudbury, Mass. earned NAIA All-America honors as a defender and midfielder for Houghton College. He went on to earn bachelor’s degrees in physical education from Belhaven College and religion from Bethany Bible College. Peter was selected by the New York Eagles of the American Soccer League with its first draft selection, and later played professionally for Memphis Americans, Sports Life, and Jackson Rockers.
